From November 14 to 16, 2025, Vietnam is honored to host the 23rd ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies Congress (AFES 2025) – the most prestigious scientific event in the region in the field of Endocrinology – Diabetes – Metabolic Disorders, held every 2 years on a rotating basis among Federation members. The congress is organized by the Vietnam Association of Diabetes & Endocrinology (VADE) in collaboration with the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES), featuring over 270 reports and nearly 100 international speakers. The congress brings together more than 500 international delegates and over 1,800 domestic delegates, including leading professors, doctors, scientists, and experts from the region and the world: USA, Germany, Italy, France, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, UAE, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia.

According to statistics from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), there are currently over 589 million adults worldwide living with diabetes, and this number is projected to increase to 853 million by 2050. In Vietnam, the prevalence of diabetes and metabolic disorders has tripled in the last 20 years, with an estimated 5.7 million adults affected, nearly half of whom are undiagnosed. Alongside this, thyroid diseases, obesity, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome are becoming increasingly common, placing a heavy burden on the health system and society.
In this context, the AFES 2025 Congress is organized with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation, sharing knowledge, and updating the latest advancements in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of endocrine – metabolic diseases, while also promoting the application of digital technology in modern medicine.
With the theme “Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolic Disorders, and Digital Technology”, the Congress focuses on exploiting the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), and Cloud Computing to enhance the efficiency of management, prevention, and healthcare for patients.
The Congress will take place in a vibrant academic atmosphere with scientific report sessions, in-depth specialized topics, research posters, along with a medical, pharmaceutical, and equipment exhibition, opening up opportunities for exchange, cooperation, and technology transfer among Southeast Asian countries.

In the coming time, the Vietnam Association of Diabetes & Endocrinology aims to continue expanding its international cooperation network, building multi-center research programs, and developing a digital medical data platform on endocrine – diabetes diseases in Vietnam. Simultaneously, the Association will focus on continuous training for young doctors, promoting community communication on prevention and early detection of endocrine diseases, aiming to effectively control diseases and minimize chronic complications in the future.
Through the AFES 2025 Congress, the Organizing Committee wishes to build a sustainable cooperation platform among countries in the Southeast Asian region, affirming Vietnam’s pioneering role in the field of Endocrinology – Diabetes, contributing to improving the health and quality of life for the community in the era of digital transformation in medicine. On this occasion, AFES also admitted Cambodia as an official member of the Federation.
