In Vietnam, the prevalence of diabetes and metabolic disorders has tripled over the past 20 years, with an estimated 5.7 million adults affected, nearly half of whom remain undiagnosed.
Along with that, thyroid diseases, obesity, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome are becoming increasingly common, creating a significant burden on the healthcare system and society.
In this context, the AFES 2025 conference was organized with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation, sharing knowledge, and updating the latest advancements in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of endocrine-metabolic diseases, as well as promoting the application of digital technology in modern medicine.
The conference focused on exploiting the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), and Cloud Computing to improve the efficiency of management, prevention, and patient healthcare.
Dr. Tran Huu Dang, President of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies and President of the Vietnam Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology, stated that AFES 2025 is not only a place for meeting and sharing professional expertise but also a bridge for cooperation among countries in the region.
“We expect that this year’s conference will contribute to promoting scientific research, training specialized human resources, and applying technological achievements to improve the quality of healthcare for the people of Southeast Asia in the digital era,” Dr. Tran Huu Dang remarked.
Through the AFES 2025 conference, the Organizing Committee wishes to build a sustainable cooperation platform among Southeast Asian countries, affirming Vietnam’s pioneering role in the field of Endocrinology – Diabetes, and contributing to improving the health and quality of life for the community in the era of medical digital transformation.
